Eoin Morgan Identifies India's X-Factor for WC 2023, It's not Virat Kohli or Rohit Sharma

As World Cup 2023 prepares to begin on October 5, with India playing host across ten venues, excitement is at its peak.

Morgan revealed why India might have an edge over other teams

With a 10-year gap since India's last ICC trophy win, the Men in Blue are viewed as one of the leading contenders, especially given their dominant performance in Asia Cup 2023.

Prominent players like Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, and Shubman Gill have already stamped their mark in the lead-up matches. Meanwhile, the likes of Jasprit Bumrah and Kuldeep Yadav have been instrumental with the ball.

However, it's the all-around brilliance of Hardik Pandya that's caught the attention of many, including former England captain and ex-Kolkata Knight Riders leader, Eoin Morgan.

During a discussion with Sky Sports, Morgan highlighted Hardik's remarkable skills both as a batsman and a bowler. According to him, while several teams in the World Cup have top-tier batters, not many can boast of a top-six batsman who can also deliver quality overs with the ball.

The Englishman believes Hardik's fitness and ability to bowl crucial spells, as evident in the Asia Cup, places India in a strong position for the World Cup.

"The fitness level of Hardik Pandya, his ability to bowl. He has bowled little bit in the Asia Cup so far but he has bowled really really well and there are very few sides in the tournament that would be genuine contenders that will have somebody who bats in the top six and and has the ability to bowl. Having Hardik Pandya fit and being able to bowl five and six overs of quality bowling really does in my eyes make them probably favourite,” said Morgan.

It is worth mentioning that Hardik's performance in Asia Cup 2023 has been noteworthy. Scoring a vital 87 runs against Pakistan after an early setback for India, and securing three pivotal wickets in the few matches he's bowled, underscores the impact he can make in the World Cup.
