The Manchester Originals had to put up with some lethal bowling by the Welsh Fire Bowlers in the third match of The Hundred 2024.

This match is being played at the Emirates Old Trafford Stadium in Manchester. The home team was put to bat after Jonny Bairstow, the captain of the Welsh Fire won the toss.

David Willey breathes fire

The Orginals were rocked pretty early in their innings, when David Willey dismissed Phil Salt in the second delivery of the match. The departure of Phil Salt so early in the innings have the Originals a rude shock from which they failed to recover.

David Willey was not there to stop. He continued his destructive bowling, when he returned for another set (the third of the innings). David Willey accounted for Max Holden and Paul Walter off two consecutive deliveries in this set. He was in a hat-trick at this stage and was given the immediate next set by his skipper.

Although David Willey did not get the hat-trick, he set in motion a collapse of the Originals' batting that has left them wanting for a good partnership to reach at least a fighting total. Holden finished his quota with three wickets for 14 runs. Notably, the left-arm pacer bowled 12 dot balls out of the 20.

This mesmerising performance by Willey caught the eye of the netizens and they were seen praising the bowler on social media.
