ENG vs NZ | 2nd Test | 300 is quite doable: Ben Foakes

Test cricket in England has always been exciting, and the ongoing series between the hosts and New Zealand is no different. Day 5 of the second Test at Trent Bridge promises to be a thriller, given equal chances for both sides to win.

With New Zealand leading by 238 runs at the close of play on Day 4, England have managed to pull things back in their favour after handing their opponents a slender lead in the first innings. New Zealand's free-flowing batting and tight bowling contributed a lot to proceedings on the fourth day at Nottingham.

Speaking about the prospect of chasing a 300-run target, England wicketkeeper Ben Foakes sounded optimistic about his side achieving that.

According to Cricbuzz, Foakes said, "I think as little as possible, realistically how fast it's been scoring, under 300 you'd say would be quite doable if you bat really well. Some of the guys we've got in the dressing room, guys like Stokesy, it could be anything really. You have no idea, really if he gets in.

So much has happened this afternoon that now all three results are in play. It should be one hell of a day."

The second match has so far seen runs aplenty from both sides. Joe Root and Daryl Mitchell have already hit daddy hundreds on this pitch, scoring 176 and 190 runs, respectively. Tom Blundell (106) and Ollie Pope (145) also struck centuries for their sides.

Amidst all this batsmanship, James Anderson became the first fast bowler to reach the 650 Test wicket mark. He uprooted New Zealand's stand-in skipper Tom Latham's off-stump to achieve this landmark moment.

He is currently only behind Shane Warne (708) and Muttiah Muralitharan (800).

Ben Stokes-led England are 1-0 up in the series after winning the Lord's Test last week.
