ENG vs IND | Three records that can be made during the ENG vs IND 5th Test

The final Test between India and England is set to commence from July 1. Team India are currently ahead 2-1 in the five-match series, which started way back in 2021 but couldn't be completed due to an outbreak of COVID-19 cases in the Indian camp.

However, this time will not be the same for both teams as they have undergone changes in leadership and management. For India, Virat Kohli has relinquished captaincy, with Rohit Sharma now leading the team.

While Rahul Dravid has taken over as the coach after Ravi Shastri's exit. For England, too, there is a change in both captaincy as well as the coaching department. Ben Stokes has taken over the captaincy from Joe Root while Brendon McCullum has become the coach replacing Chris Silverwood.

As we move closer to matchday, let's take a look at three records that could be broken during this match.

#1 - Ravichandran Ashwin could become India's highest wicket-taker against England in Test cricket

Ravichandran Ashwin is uncertain to take part in the game, with India likely to play four front-line pacers and a spinner Ravindra Jadeja. However, if India decides to play, Ravichandran Ashwin could achieve the feat of becoming India's highest wicket-taker against England in Test cricket.

Ravichandran Ashwin has 88 wickets to his name as he is only behind BS Chandrasekhar and Anil Kumble, who have picked 92 and 95 wickets, respectively.

#2 - Ravindra Jadeja and Ravichandran Ashwin could achieve wicket milestones

Both Ravindra Jadeja and Ravichandran Ashwin are close to achieving wicket milestones. Jadeja is currently on 242 and, with eight wickets, could become the second Indian slow left-arm orthodox spinner with 250 Test wickets, with only Bishan Singh Bedi said to have achieved this feat.

On the other hand, Ravichandran Ashwin is eight wickets away from becoming the second Indian to cross the 450 wickets mark.

#3 - Joe Root and Virat Kohli could create their very own record

Joe Root, Virat Kohli, and Steven Smith have a joint record for the most number of 100s among active Test cricketers (27 each). This match will provide both Joe Root and Virat Kohli to make a new record, and get ahead in the race.
