ENG vs IND | Stuart Broad becomes only sixth bowler to claim 550 Test wickets

It seems that English pacer, Stuart Broad has been playing Test cricket since forever. The 36-year-old became only the sixth bowler to reach 550 wickets in red-ball cricket. Additionally, the veteran is only the third pacer to achieve this feat. Stuart Broad reached this milestone after picking up his first wicket in the ongoing final Test against India.

Stuart Broad had to toil hard on Day One in Edgbaston, as he failed to pick up a single wicket. However, much to Broad’s credit, things have started going in his favour on the second day of play. He picked up the wicket of Mohammed Shami, who was caught out in the third man region by Jack Leach.

Glenn McGrath and James Anderson are the two other pacers who have picked more than 550 wickets in Test cricket. The former hung up his boots after having 563 wickets to his name. On the other hand, Stuart Broad’s teammate, James Anderson is still going strong with 655 wickets to his name.

Muttiah Muralitharan holds the all-time record for most Test cricket wickets. The Sri Lankan spin bowling wizard retired with exactly 800 Test wickets to his name. Former Australian spinner, Shane Warne comes second in this list, with 708 wickets to his name. Former Indian spinner, Anil Kumble is on the list as well with 619 wickets.
