  • Eng V Ind Rohit Sharma Gunning For Sachin Tendulkars World Record In The Upcoming Odis

ENG v IND| Rohit Sharma gunning for Sachin Tendulkar's world record in the upcoming ODIs

Rated as one of the top batters of his generation, Rohit Sharma is on the verge of another record. If the Indian captain manages to get to triple figures in the upcoming ODI’s, he will break the world record for most hundreds away from home.

Rohit, who hasn’t scored a century in almost a year, will look to get back to his best while playing against his favourite opponent. He averages close to 70 against the Three Lions on their home turf. In the recently concluded T20I series, he showed glimpses of his capabilities.

As a player who has crossed the double century mark thrice in his ODI career, the expectations will always be high. All eyes will be on him as India takes on England for a 3 match ODI series in England. After winning the T20I series 2-1, the team will look to replicate the same form in the longer format.

Currently, Rohit Sharma has seven centuries in England, level with greats like AB de Villiers, Sachin Tendulkar and Saeed Anwar. ABD scored seven centuries in India, whereas Sachin and Anwar scored the same in UAE.

Out of Hitman’s seven centuries, five came in the 2019 ODI World Cup in England, the most by any player in a single edition of the World Cups.

Sharma will be reunited with his usual opening partner - Shikhar Dhawan, in the upcoming ODIs. The pair have been one of the most productive opening duos since the days of Sourav Ganguly and Sachin Tendulkar.

They are only six runs away from being the second Indian opening pair to reach 5000 ODI runs.

With Virat Kohli nowhere near his best, Sharma will have to take extra responsibility. Being the skipper, he will be expected to lead by example.

With the big names back in the England squad, the challenge will be more complicated, but truly great players tend to thrive on tough challenges.
