Mumbai Indians all-rounder Hardik Pandya has said that he is putting efforts to get back to bowling.
"Aayega jaldi. Koshish poori hai (I will bowl soon. Efforts are on),” the all-rounder told Star Sports.
Pandya had undergone a back surgery in the year 2019 and hasn’t been bowling regularly since his return to the field. In fact, Pandya didn’t bowl a single delivery during the India leg of the IPL 2021 for MI and this has been the same scenario in the second phase of the tournament as well.
Coach Mahela Jayawardene had also insisted that the team management will only make him bowl if he feels comfortable.
“We are talking to Indian management, and to make sure sooner he feels comfortable, we get him into his bowling programme and prepare him," said Jayawardene in a pre-match press conference on Friday (October 1).
"(If Hardik can bowl in IPL) We have to look on a daily basis and evaluate and see how he progresses," he added.
MI suffered a defeat against Delhi Capitals after the Rishabh Pant-led side chased down a target of 130 runs by 4 wickets despite having some early hiccups. Mumbai were earlier restricted to 129/8 in 20 overs while Hardik only managed to score 17 off 18 deliveries during the course in Sharjah.
