Eden Gardens To Host 100th IPL Match; List Of Venues With Most Matches In The League

This evening, Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) will lock horns with Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the 57th match of the IPL 2025 tournament. The much-anticipated encounter will be played at the historic Eden Gardens in Kolkata. 

Eden Gardens To Host 100th IPL Match

This will be the 100th match at Eden Gardens in the Indian Premier League history. The iconic venue conducted its first IPL match way back in the inaugural season in 2008 when hosts KKR faced Deccan Chargers in a riveting clash. 

It was a hard-fought low-scoring affair which the Knight Riders won by five wickets. Batting first, Deccan Chargers posted a paltry total of 110 runs, as KKR's Murali Kartik ran through their lineup with a sensational three-wicket haul. In response, the Knight Riders chased down the total in 19 overs, with David Hussey playing a pivotal role with the bat. 

Since then, the venue has witnessed several nail-biting affairs in the competition. It has also hosted multiple IPL finals, including that in the 2013 as well as the 2015. Interestingly, Mumbai Indians have won both the IPL finals in Kolkata.

As shown in the above table, the historic Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai has hosted 124 matches, the most by any venue in the IPL. Bengaluru's M. Chinnaswamy Stadium is placed second on the list with 100 IPL matches, while Eden Gardens will be only the third IPL venue to breach the three-figure mark in terms of matches hosted in the tournament. 

KKR To Take On CSK In Must-Win Match

Led by Ajinkya Rahane, KKR are ready to face CSK in a riveting clash at Eden Gardens in Kolkata. It's a must-win affair for the Knight Riders as they aim to secure a spot in the playoffs of the competition.
