India Wallop Australia PM XI
Team India defeated Australia Prime Minister’s XI in their two-day tour match at the Manuka Oval in Canberra. After Harshit Rana (4-44) picked up four quick wickets to restrict the hosts to 240 in a 46-over game, visiting batters Yashasvi Jaiswal (45 off 59), KL Rahul (27 off 44) and Shubman Gill (50 off 62) had a good crack with the bat in the run-chase. Nitish Kumar Reddy and spin bowling all-rounders Washington Sundar and Ravindra Jadeja also unleashed handy runs towards the closing stages of the contest.
England Thrash NZ By 8 Wickets
The visiting Englishmen humbled a high-flying New Zealand unit, at the latter’s home ground in Christchurch to go 1-0 up in the three-match Test series. Employing their standard ‘BazBall’ approach, England overhauled their 104-run target on Day 4 of the opening Test in just 12.4 overs with eight wickets to spare. Brydon Carse bagged the ‘Player of the Match’ award for his 10-wicket haul and for scoring an unbeaten 33 in the first innings. Harry Brook also plundered a majestic 171 in the match to help England mount a monumental lead over the hosts.
Jay Shah Begins Tenure As ICC Chairman
BCCI’s outgoing secretary Jay Shah commenced his journey as the new chairman of the International Cricket Council (ICC). In doing so, he became the fifth Indian to helm the apex body and became the youngest-ever chairman at the age of 36. Jay Shah was appointed as ICC Chairman earlier this year, as a replacement of New Zealand attorney Greg Barclay.
Pakistan Take 1-0 Lead Over Zimbabwe
Pakistan cricket team, under the leadership of Agha Salman, flogged Zimbabwe by 57 runs in the first T20I to take a 1-0 lead in the three-match series at Bulawayo’s Queens Sports Club. Usman Khan and unbeaten Tayyab Tahir top-scored with 39 runs each for the visitors before bowlers Abrar Ahmed (3-28) and Sufiyan Muqeem (3-20) rendered Sikandar Raza’s fighting knock fruitless in a one-sided affair.
Bihar Youngster Takes 10 Wickets In An Innings
Young Bihar spinner Suman Kumar attained a significant milestone with the ball in a 2024 Cooch Behar Trophy match against Rajasthan. The youngster picked up all 10 Rajasthan wickets at an expense of just 53 runs in Patna, thus becoming the second cricketer to bag a 10-wicket haul in the season. Kumar sent down 33.5 overs and even claimed a hat-trick during the course of his marathon spell.
