England are currently placed second in Group B of the ongoing Commonwealth Games 2022 Women's T20 competition behind New Zealand, who are ahead on the virtue of a better net run rate.

Stand-in skipper Natalie Sciver has confirmed that regular captain Heather Knight's participation in the remaining matches is in doubt.

The team management is awaiting the results of the scans, which will determine her availability.

“She’s not in a good place. She’s better than she has been in the last few days, still in a bit of pain with her hip. It’s probably going to be a bit quick to play against New Zealand, she went and saw our team doctor and had another scan. She’s waiting on the results of that,” - Sciver was quoted by Expressandstar.

Knight is nursing a hip injury and is racing against time to get fit for England's final group game against the White Ferns on August 4.

However, both England and New Zealand are guaranteed a semi-final spot.

Ahead of CWG 2022, Knight took injections during England's T20I series against South Africa in a bid to recover for the opening encounter of the Birmingham-based event.

The 31-year-old has played 88 WT20Is, scoring 1,413 runs with one hundred and four fifties to her name.

She also has 20 wickets bowling off-spin.
