CWC League 2 | SCO vs NEP | Nepal crushes Scotland to claim crucial two points

Cloudy Scottish skies and green-tinged wicket in Glasgow backfired the hosts as the Asian visitors, Nepal, wreaked havoc in seam-friendly conditions.

The third match of the 12th trilateral series happening between Scotland, Nepal and Namibia of the ICC CWC League 2 took place at Titwood in Glasgow. With two crucial points at stake, Nepal stood tall to overcome the Scottish threat.

Put into bat, Scotland lost three wickets inside the first powerplay as Nepal thoroughly used the overcast set-up. Later, Scotland were soon reduced to 46 for six inside 15 overs, with Sompal Kami (3) and Aadil Alam (3) doing most of the damage with the new ball getting most of their wickets caught behind the stumps by wicketkeeper or slips.

Some lower-order resistance from Gavin Main (64), propelled the hosts to a respectable total before they were knocked over for 144 inside 43 overs. Reminding us how Scotland’s neighbour England were bundled cheaply too by their Asian counterparts.

Nepal’s innings started well with Kushal Bhurtel (27) and Aasif Sheikh (71), providing a solid opening partnership of 47 before the former departed, slashing at a wider loose delivery from Gavin Main.

Gavin Main, again, did the hard work for Scotland, claiming three wickets but couldn’t turn the fortune for his side as Nepal made their way back home with ease inside 26 overs.

The next match of the tri-series takes place between Scotland and Namibia on 14th July at the same venue.
