CPL set to return to Saint Lucia for the 2022 edition

The Caribbean Premier League (CPL) will return to Saint Lucia for the 2022 edition. Unfortunately, the onset of the Covid-19 pandemic had restricted the Caribbean T20 carnival to a single country in the last two seasons.

In 2020, Trinidad and Tobago played the sole host. And in 2021, the tournament moved to Saint Kitts and Nevis to restrict movement amidst the global-raging pandemic.

Now, for the 10th edition, Saint Lucia has been confirmed as one of the four host nations, with matches being played at Darren Sammy Cricket Ground, Beausejour.

Pete Russell, the CEO of CPL, confirmed the news and expressed his gratitude.

We are grateful to the government for working with us to make this happen. Saint Lucia has been a huge part of the Hero CPL story, and as we enter our 10th season, it is great to be back at the Darren Sammy Cricket Ground this year.”

The 2022 season of the CPL is set to begin on 30th August. Pre-draft retention and signings have given a relatively fresh look to every franchise. St.Kitts and Nevis Patriots are the defending champions as they won the last CPL title on their home ground and will be gunning to retain their crown.
