The two bottom-placed teams of the County Championship 2022 Division II table - Leicestershire and Sussex - will have a go at each other when they collide at the Grace Road, Leicester, in a four-day fixture, starting 12th May 2022.
So far, it has been a devastating County campaign for both sides, with Leicestershire lying at the eighth position, having gathered 34 points after three losses and two draws in their five games. While Sussex have enjoyed the same fate and are sitting at seventh position with as many defeats and draws as their opponent, they edge past them in the points column (38).
Speaking of Leicestershire, they went through another loss (third) in the previous encounter against Glamorgan. While Hassan Azad, Rishi Patel and Ben Mike handed them a competitive total in both the innings, an inconsistent bowling effort resulted in a six-wicket defeat.
Although Sam Evans did not have a good last game, he has been Leicestershire's top-scorer in the ongoing season after Azad, and his side would want him back among the runs against Sussex.
Leicestershire's regular skipper Colin Ackermann did not feature in the previous match due to a hand injury and it remains to be seen if he is available tomorrow.
While things have not been transpiring very well for Sussex either, their batters, especially Cheteshwar Pujara, have bailed them out of many tough situations. Who would forget that famous game versus Derbyshire, in which Pujara and skipper Tom Haines led an impeccable fightback and secured a draw even after the follow-on was enforced?
However, just like Leicestershire, Sussex's bowling contingent holds no prominent figure, barring Ollie Robinson, who has claimed seven wickets in the competition. Their poor bowling returns are reflected in the fact that they have conceded totals as mammoth as 534, 505 and 491 in the tournament.

Pitch Report
The pitch of Grace Road, Leicester behaves like a typical English wicket with the seamers having a dominant hand over the batters. However, it has played like a good batting surface this season and could continue to act the same way.
