Ishan Kishan is back, and he’s back with a bang! The Jharkhand skipper smashed a blistering 134 off just 78 balls in the Vijay Hazare Trophy match against Manipur on Monday.
Jharkhand’s Ishan Kishan Powers His Team with Match-Winning Century
Chasing 254, Ishan Kishan came out swinging. He smashed the bowlers to all parts of the ground, showing no mercy. His knock had 16 fours and six huge sixes, and he batted with a strike rate of 171.79.
He shared a massive 196-run stand with Utkarsh Singh, who scored 68. By the time Kishan fell to Kishan Singha, Jharkhand had the match in the bag. They cruised to 255/2, picking up their second win in a row.
Kishan’s knock wasn’t just fireworks, it added to his already impressive record. The new SRH star now has 3,643 runs in 106 List-A games at an average over 38 with a strike rate of 94-plus. This was his sixth century in the format, along with 19 fifties.
In the Vijay Hazare Trophy alone, he’s racked up 1,493 runs at an average of 36.41, with three tons and six fifties.
A Comeback In the Making
This knock is big for Kishan. He’s been out of the Indian team for a while now. His last ODI was during the 2023 World Cup against Afghanistan, where he filled in for Shubman Gill.
Kishan’s international numbers are excellent. In 27 ODIs, he’s scored 933 runs at an average of 42.40 and a strike rate of 102.19. Let’s not forget that insane double century he scored too.
Meanwhile, after an abysmal patch, Kishan took a break from cricket. The Indian team management advised him to focus on improving his form, and boy, has he done that! He’s notched centuries in the Buchi Babu Tournament, Duleep Trophy, Ranji Trophy, and now the Vijay Hazare Trophy.
Kishan’s knock is a loud and clear message to the selectors. He’s in red-hot form and ready to don the Indian jersey again. For now, he’ll look to keep smashing runs and leading Jharkhand to more wins.
