One of the finest performers of the Australian team for the last few years and the number one Test batter, Marnus Labuschagne, has tasted success in his County stint as well.
In his debut season with Glamorgan in 2019, he amassed 1,114 runs in 10 matches and followed it up with 228 runs in six innings of the 2021 edition.
In the 2022 edition of the County Championship Division Two, Labuschagne garnered 377 runs in five innings at an average of 41.88, with a solitary century. With the ball, he scalped up ten wickets.
Then he featured in six Blast matches and contributed 118 runs, with the top score of 41. However, he left mid-way to join the Australia squad for an away series against Sri Lanka.
In a recent post on his social media handles, the Australian batter thanked the Glamorgan County team for allowing him to be part of the critical domestic tournaments. In place of him, Colin Ingram will feature in the Playing XI.
"Thanks to everyone at @glamcricket for another season. Cardiff feels like my second home because of all the great people around the club, and I've loved playing with this bunch of blokes. Go Glam," Labuschagne captioned the post.
Labuschagne also interacted with BBC Sport Wales before departing to Sri Lanka. He reckoned that he loves playing for Glamorgan but needs to manage his schedule well to come up again next year.
"I love playing for the club, and I certainly want to continue to play for Glamorgan, but we'll have to see how everything pans out," he told BBC Sport Wales.
With Ashes 2023 scheduled in June next year, the Australian batter is expected to feature in the County Championship, which takes place from April.
"There's a lot of things in the mix, but I can't see anything wrong with trying to copy the last time I played in the Ashes here and play some county cricket with Glamorgan (going) into the Ashes next summer," said Labuschagne.
Currently, Glamorgan are in Division Two, and Labuschagne aims to help the team get promoted to Division One in the next couple of years.
"There's still a long way to go for us as a club, to keep pushing the limit. I want to see this club moving into (Championship) Division One in the next two to three years, which should be our goal," he concluded.
