The National Anti-Doping Agency (NADA) has announced its updated list of cricketers included in the Registered Testing Pool (RTP) for 2025. This program aims to ensure transparency and fairness in sports by monitoring athletes for anti-doping compliance.
Prominent names on the list include Shubman Gill, Jasprit Bumrah, and Suryakumar Yadav. Other male cricketers added are Hardik Pandya, KL Rahul, Shreyas Iyer, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Arshdeep Singh, Sanju Samson, and Tilak Verma. Women cricketers like Shafali Verma, Deepti Sharma, and Renuka Singh Thakur are also part of this testing pool.
As per reports, NADA officials will collect samples during the upcoming white-ball series against England.
These collections ensure regular monitoring to maintain anti-doping standards. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has already been notified of the developments.
Cricketers Missing The Tests Can Face Penalties
Athletes included in the RTP must provide their whereabouts, including residence details, training schedules, and a one-hour daily time slot for sample collection. Failing to share this information or missing tests can lead to violations. If an athlete accumulates three such violations within a year, they may face penalties under anti-doping regulations.
This move is part of NADA’s ongoing effort to expand its oversight, which began in 2019. Back then, cricketers like Ravindra Jadeja, KL Rahul, and Smriti Mandhana were first included. However, during the COVID-19 lockdown in 2020, several athletes faced issues submitting their details due to technical glitches.
