After a series of disappointing performances spanning three games, Mumbai Indians began to find their winning rhythm again by defeating Rishabh Pant's Delhi Capitals by 29 runs. Mumbai's speedster Bumrah gave their success credits to Romario Shepherd, whose unbelievable cameo turned the tide in MI's favour.

Batting first, Mumbai Indians posted a formidable total of 234-5 in 20 overs. A thundering opening partnership between Rohit Sharma and Ishan Kishan initially gave a belief that Mumbai might even breach the 250-run mark. However, once Rohit and Ishan were dismissed, Mumbai faced a struggle to maintain momentum.

Hardik Pandya, who came to bat at number 4, struggled in scoring, managing only 24 runs from 20 balls. Meanwhile, Tim David, batting at the other end, consistently scored, raising Mumbai's hopes of reaching a total of 200 runs. However, the game's dynamics shifted when Romario Shepherd entered the scene

The Shepherd Madness

In the final over bowled by Nortje, Shepherd scored 32 runs for MI, which took their total to 234 runs in 20 overs. He hit Nortje for 4 sixes and 2 boundaries in that over, providing Mumbai with a crucial cushion to defend the score.

In reply  to MI's 234 runs, Tristan Stubbs played an exceptional innings of 71 not out off 25 balls for DC, but it was Bumrah's brilliant bowling that halted DC's progress. Bumrah finished with figures of 4 overs, 22 runs, and 2 wickets, contributing significantly to MI's victory.

In the post game team grouping, Jasprit Bumrah was awarded a badge for his performance by MI's bowling coach Lasith Malinga in a video posted on their official social media platform X. This recognition came after Bumrah's impressive bowling performance, where he took 2 wickets for 22 runs.

However, rather than taking all the credit for the win, Bumrah graciously acknowledged Romario Shepherd for his crucial innings. Bumrah also expressed his gratitude for not being in the receiving end of Shepherd fury.
