After a couple of COVID-19-cases in the Sri Lankan camp, the limited-overs series against India comprising of three ODIs and as many T20s is set to be rescheduled as per several reports in the media. The three-match ODI series which was slated to start from 13th July will now start either on 17th or 18th July.
It is learnt that the Sri Lanka Cricket Board (SLC) wants the limited-overs side to undergo an extended period of self-isolation after batting coach Grant Flower and team data analyst GT Niroshan tested positive for COVID-19 after returning from their tour of England.
After Flower’s positive report, all the players were put into self-isolation and while they are quarantining individually they did travel from England together. The host board doesn’t want to risk the health and safety of the players and will announce the revised schedule to the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and the broadcasters for the match on Saturday. It is also being speculated that the SLC might field a separate squad for the India series. Though unlikely, if it does eventually happen, it will sink Sri Lanka's chances rapidly against the strong India squad.
