The ongoing edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) has been postponed with immediate effect after episodes of novel Coronavirus outbreak across franchises in the last few days.
"Following a meeting with the team owners and considering the health and wellbeing of all participants is paramount, the Pakistan Cricket Board has decided to postpone the HBL Pakistan Super League 6 with immediate effect. The decision was made after seven cases were reported in the competition, which had started on 20 February," the statement on the PSL official website read.
As many as seven players and one support staff have tested positive for the novel Coronavirus infection so far in the league and there was pressure mounting on the Pakistan Cricket Board.
Following the latest episode of the Covid-19 outbreak in two franchises, the PCB offered foreign players an option to leave the tournament midway, before pulling the plug on the whole tournament itself.
