England all-rounder Ben Stokes will be pulling out of the Indian Premier League. If the reports in the British media are to be believed, Stokes will be joining his captain Joe Root in the revival of Test cricket in England. The development comes right after England were drubbed at the hands of the Aussies 4-0 in the recently concluded Ashes series that left a sour taste in the mouths of cricketers and experts.
Root, who has openly criticised the County structure has argued that the domestic cricket provides zero incentives to players who want to play in the long format of the game.
For Stokes personally, this has been a turbulent year after the passing of his father, his surgeries on his hand and then the long mental health break that he took before joining the Ashes.
It could be expected that more cricketers will follow suit.
