Sunil Narine's late surge gave Comilla Victorians a 4-wicket win over Sylhet Sunrisers in the BPL 2022 fixture. Chasing 170 in 20 overs, the Victorians lost a couple of wickets early in the chase but Mahmudul Hasan Joy and Moeen Ali stitched 82 runs for the second wicket before Moeen was out for 46 off 35. Mahmudul Hasan on the other side went on to notch up 65 in 50 deliveries.
The Comilla team then lost a few wickets at regular intervals and were reduced to 148/6 in 18 overs. But Narine's brisk batting helped the side go over the line in the final over.
Earlier, the Sunrisers had an emphatic start from openers Ingram and Anamul as the two posted 105 runs for the first wicket. While Ingram scored 89 off 63, Anamul struck a 33-ball 46 during the course.
But no other batter really got into the groove and Sylhet eventually scored 169/5 in 20 overs. Mustafizur returned with figures of 3/23 in 4 overs.
"I thought it was a pretty good wicket to bat on. I tried to keep it simple and bat long. I know our batting order is long, and our coach said asked us to take it deep. The partnership with Moeen Ali was the turning point after losing two wickets in the powerplay," Mahmudul Hasan Joy said after the match.
