  • Bouchers Legal Team Fails To Present Key Documents In Racism Allegations

Boucher's legal team fails to present 'key documents' in racism allegations

Former cricketer and South African men’s head coach Mark Boucher has been slammed with a ‘gross misconduct’ case by Cricket South Africa (CSA). He has been charged with racism allegations which could lead to his dismissal as the head coach.

CSA has appointed senior advocate Terry Motau as the chairperson for the disciplinary hearing of Boucher’s misconduct. In addition, the head coach was accused by former teammate Paul Adams of racism.

A Social Justice and Nation Building (SJN) report found truth to the findings, and charges were pressed against Boucher and several other officials.

The former spinner accused many officials and former teammates of charges of racism, as Adams said that the team selections were prejudiced towards coloured players.

Former Proteas assistant coach Enoch Nkwe was also dragged into the gross misconduct case and was furious about it. The cricketing board wants Nkwe to present himself as a witness to the case.

The head coach has suffered his first setback in the misconduct case, as Boucher’s legal team has failed to present key documents regarding his former assistant coach’s resignation.

Nkwe’s resignation was not recorded on tape to maintain confidentiality, but in the light of recent events, it is essential to discover the reason for his resignation. As the former assistant coach had expressed in the past that he had been working in a ‘toxic environment’, he had been ‘undermined’ and that his position was reduced to that of a ‘cones boy’.

It was of the utmost importance for Boucher’s team to present documents regarding Nkwe’s resignation to prove that he had resigned on his terms and not due to Boucher’s misconduct.

Boucher has stated that his off-field issues are complicated, but he is solely focused on his duties as Proteas' head coach.
