In what comes as a significant blow for the visitors, pacer Matt Henry has been ruled out of the ODI series against Pakistan after suffering from abdominal strain on the final day of the second Test match.

A replacement would join the squad soon but was yet to be confirmed. Henry will fly bach ome alongside his teammates who are not part of the ODI series.

New Zealand coach, Gary Stead confirmed that Henry bowled through injury in the final session on day 5, as the Test match eventually ended in a draw.

“It was a pretty gutsy effort, really, but he will be withdrawn from the ODI side,” Stead said on Saturday.

Injuries continue to haunt the visitors in the ongoing series. Blair Tickner has already replaced Adam Milne in the white-ball team due to concerns surrounding Milne's preparation for the series.

Tom Blundell is also put on the sideline as he sat on the final day of the Karachi Test due to groin strain.

With the Test series ending in a stalemate, the ODI leg will commence from January 9.
