In a significant development, the BCCI has urged the IPL teams, apart from Punjab Kings, to recall their overseas players by Tuesday, May 13. The cricketing body aims to restart the tournament as soon as possible following the ceasefire at India-Pakistan border.
Teams Asked To Assemble Overseas Stars By Tuesday
According to the latest report by The Indian Express, the BCCI has asked all IPL teams barring PBKS to assemble their foreign players as it is all set to resume the 2025 season of the tournament.
The franchises have also been informed that the BCCI will soon release a revised schedule for the remaining matches of the season, which couldn't be conducted as per the original schedule.
The report also claims that the BCCI could introduce more double-headers, as it wants to conclude the tournament by May 25, the date of the IPL 2025 final as per the original schedule.
Meanwhile, the Punjab Kings have been asked to hold their plans, as the venue for their remaining games hasn't been decided.
"All franchises have been told to inform its team to report to their respective destination by Tuesday. Punjab will have a neutral venue, so their destination is yet to be confirmed. The board is planning to have more double headers so that they can finish the IPL as per its scheduled day," a BCCI source was quoted as saying by Indian Express.
As reported earlier, the BCCI will hold a meeting with all franchises and the stakeholders before formally unveiling the schedule for the remainder of the competition, which could be resumed around mid May.
