The Board of Control for Cricket in India has announced the Annual Player Contracts for the Virat Kohli-led Indian team for the period from October 2020 to September 2021.
The board has classified players into four categories—Grade A+, A, B and C based on their performance in the year preceding the contract period.
Only three players in skipper Kohli, white-ball vice-captain Rohit Sharma and Jasprit Bumrah have been awarded a Grade A+ contract and will get Rs 7 crore for the contract period.
The next grade of contract—Grade A has been awarded to 10 players in R Ashwin, Ravindra Jadeja, Cheteshwar Pujara, Ajinkya Rahane, Shikhar Dhawan, KL Rahul, Mohammed Shami, Ishant Sharma, Rishabh Pant and Hardik Pandya. They will get Rs 5 crore under the annual contract.
Five players, Wriddhiman Saha, Umesh Yadav, Bhuvneshar Kumar, Shardul Thakur and Mayank Agarwal have been awarded the Grade B contract that will fetch them Rs 3 crore for the term period.
The last contract categoryGrade C has been awarded to 10 players in Kuldeep Yadav, Navdeep Saini, Deepak Chahar, Shubman Gill, Hanuma Vihari, Axar Patel, Shreyas Iyer, Washington Sundar, Yuzvendra Chahal and Mohammed Siraj under which they will get Rs 1 crore annually.
