CAC updates Women’s and Junior cricket committees

The CAC members held screened applications for the positions of one member each in Women’s Selection and Junior Cricket committees. Upon screening applications, the group unanimously selected former women’s all-rounder Shyama Shaw for a role in the Women’s Selection Committee.

Moreover, they recommended former Karnataka cricketer VS Thilak Naidu to become a chairperson of the Junior Cricket Committee.

Shaw represented the Indian women’s team in three Tests and five ODIs between 1995 and 1997. Remarkably, the left-handed batter averaged a staggering 61.33 in Test matches for India. She also played six seasons worth of domestic cricket for Bengal.

The former women’s all-rounder now joins Neetu David (chairperson), Renu Margrate, Arati Vaidya and Kalpana Venkatacha as a member of the women’s selection group.

Meanwhile, Naidu played 93 first-class, 53 List A and one T20 match at the domestic level. Following the conclusion of his playing career in 2009, he served as the chairman of the KSCA Junior Selection Committee and was one of the members of the KSCA's Senior Selection Committee.

As per his recent appointment, he will be chairing BCCI’s Junior Cricket Committee, which also includes fellow former players like Ranadeb Bose, Harvinder Singh Sodhi, Pathik Patel and Krishen Mohan.
