'Bazball' the phrase devalues what Ben Stokes and Brendon McCullum have done: Rob Key

Team England are doing a phenomenal job under the leadership of new skipper Ben Stokes and coach Brendon McCullum. The Test team have scaled greater heights under the new regime by winning their last four matches. 

Rob Key heaps praise on Stokes and McCullum 

England's latest victory came against India by seven wickets to level the five-match Test series by 2-2. Robert Key, England Cricket Board Managing Director, seems highly impressed with the progress of the England Test team.

Key lavished praise on the duo of Stokes and McCullum for instilling the winning attitude in the players and teaching them the art of chasing massive totals. He also shared his thoughts on the famed 'Bazball' approach.

What is 'Bazball'?

The term 'Bazball' has gained a lot of traction in recent months, and it has been used to describe the aggressive approach of the England team in the purest format of the game. However, Key believes that it won't be fair on Stokes and McCullum to label their hard work as 'Bazball'.

Key's thought on Bazball

"I never thought it would work like this. There will be times when it won't work, but for now, it's been fantastic to see. I'm not mad on Bazball the phrase. It's not something I particularly enjoy because it devalues what Ben and Brendon have done.

Rob Key reflects on the appointment of Brendon McCullum as England Test head coach

The 43-year-old also reflected on his thought process while choosing McCullum as the Test head coach. Before the appointment of the former New Zealand star, England were struggling in Tests, having lost to Australia, New Zealand, and India. 

Key admitted that he wanted to bring in a leader for the England Test team who could inspire the players and take the pressure off them.
