The Asian Cricket Council (ACC) has confirmed a backup day for the India vs Pakistan Asia Cup Super 4 match scheduled for September 10 in Colombo. Given the potential rain threat, the ACC has allocated September 11 as a reserve day, ensuring the match can be completed if it's affected by weather on the original date.

Here, it is worth noting that the Asian Cricket Council has only allotted a reserve day for the India-Pakistan Super 4 encounter, leaving the other team matches without this benefit. This decision has drawn criticism from both the cricket fraternity and fans, who view it as a partial stance by the council.

Although Bangladesh head coach Chandika Hathurusingha and Sri Lanka head coach Chris Silverwood voiced their disappointment regarding this decision, the Sri Lanka Cricket Board and Bangladesh Cricket Board have released statements indicating that the decision was made following discussions with all four participating boards.

Taking to Twitter, the Bangladesh Cricket Board had this to say about the decision to provide a reserve day for the India vs. Pakistan match:

"A reserve day for India Pakistan contest in Super 11 Asia Cup Super 4 stage has been added that effectively revised the Asia Cup playing condition. To clarify on the position, the decision was taken with the consent of all four participating teams and ACC."

Sri Lanka Cricket Board Tweeted:

"The reserve day for the India-Pakistan contest of the Super 11 Asia Cup Super 4 stage was taken in consultation with all four member boards of the Super 4 competing teams."

"Accordingly, the ACC effectively revised the playing conditions of the tournament to effect the agreed-upon change."

Earlier, the match between India and Pakistan in the league stage had to be abandoned due to constant rain. India batted first in that game, and were bowled out for 266 runs, but Pakistan never had the opportunity to begin their run chase due to the inclement weather. Later, the match was called off, and each team was awarded one point.
