Afghanistan could potentially miss their star pacer Fazalhaq Farooqi in the third and final One-Day International (ODI) against Bangladesh today, as he was taken for scans on Monday evening.

As confirmed by an Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) official, Farooqi went for MRI scans of his calf muscle, troubling the pacer since the first ODI last week.

The Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) pacer wreaked havoc on Bangladesh batters in the first ODI, claiming three for 24 before leaving the field during his penultimate over.

In the second ODI, Farooqi claimed three wickets again to become the leading wicket-getter in the ongoing series thus far (6).

As quoted by Cricbuzz, the ACB official hoped that Farooqi would be in action for the final match of the tour.

Here's what an ACB Official said

"He faced some problems day before yesterday (in the opening game) and as he was finding some problem we send him to the hospital (today)."

The 22-year-old had a practice session on Monday before leaving for the hospital from the team hotel for an MRI scan in the evening.

Farooqi has played 15 ODIs, and 22 T20Is for Afghanistan since 2021 and claimed 51 wickets combined. The Baghlan-born in seven Indian Premier League (IPL) matches has picked up six wickets since 2022.
