Regarded as one of the finest currently, Babar Azam will lead Pakistan in the upcoming Cricket World Cup 2023 in India, which will be his third ICC tournament, having captained in ICC T20 World Cup 2021, and 2022.

Azam will look to better Pakistan's position from the CWC 2019 in England, where former skipper Sarfaraz Ahmed's side failed to reach the knockouts.

However, one thing that has been constant ever since for Pakistan is the rise of Azam, who has maintained his hold at the No.1 One-Day International (ODI) batter ranking for over 900 days.

Babar's Unique Feat

Interestingly, Azam is the only cricketer to have not missed a single ODI between the 2019 and upcoming 2023 World Cup editions.

Since the start of 2019 WC, Azam has played 49 ODIs for Pakistan non-stop and slammed 2,947 runs with 11 centuries, at an average of 65.48.

Overall, in 108 matches between 2015 and 2023, the stylish batter hashas scored 5,409 runs with 19 tons at an average of 58.16.

However, this is the first time that Azam will play any form of international cricket in India, which will add more pressure.

Azam starred for Pakistan in their first warm-up against New Zealand, which they lost, scoring 80 off 84.

Azam will hope for a better team outing against Australia in their final warm-up on Tuesday ahead of their tournament opener against the Netherlands on October 6 in Hyderabad.
