Australia Test side scripted history on Sunday, February 9 as they won the second Test against Sri Lanka in Galle by 9 wickets and clinched the two match series by the score-line of 2-0. They regained the Warne-Muralitharan Trophy and lifted it for the first time away from home in Sri Lanka since 2011.

It was another comprehensive outing for the visitors in the second Test as Steve Smith and his men completely dominated the host in almost every session of the Test. Australia winning a series in the subcontinent is a rare sight nowadays. Before this series, Australia could only manage a series win in Pakistan in a span of more than a decade.

Now, after doing a 2-0 clean-sweep in Sri Lanka, Australia have completed four clean-sweeps in Tests in Asia, and for the first time since 2006 against Bangladesh. Here is Australia's Test Clean-sweeps in Asia.

Earlier, coming on the back of a win in the first encounter, Australia were put into bowl by Sri Lanka on what seemed like a good pitch for the spinners in Galle. However, Sri Lanka could not post a big total in the first innings as they got all out for 257 runs on Day 2 morning.

In reply, Australia had a decent start with the bat but it was the partnership between Steve Smith and Alex Carey which really took the game away from the Lankans. The pair added 259 runs for the fourth wicket with both of them completing their century.

The Australians took a huge 157-run lead in the first innings, leaving a mountain to climb for Sri Lanka in their second innings with the bat. The kangaroos continued from where they left as both the Aussie spinners in Matthew Kuhnemann and Nathan Lyon took four wickets each, wrapping up Sri Lanka for just 231 runs on the board.

Australia, chasing a mere 75-run target, got over the line quite comfortably by nine wickets. With this, the league stage of the current World Test Championship (WTC) cycle comes to an end. Australia will be back in action for the Final against South Africa which is scheduled to play in June later this year.
