Having played a lot of white-ball cricket for the past nearly two months in the Indian Premier League, The Indian team in Australia decided that it would focus on the red ball cricket and hence was seen practicing long format simulation training with red and white balls.
A simulation is a practice that is different from traditional net sessions in such a way that players in the net session practice with proper close-in fielders and a nonstriker and a wicket-keeper so that they have a feel of the real game while being in the net.
Indian skipper Virat Kohli was seen practicing by facing the red and pink ball thrown in by Mohammed Shami, Mohammad Siraj, and Ravindra Jadeja. The Delhi born would be part of India’s Test series only for the first match before leaving for home to be with his wife Anushka Sharma for the birth of their first child.
The 32-year-old posted a video of his practice session on Twitter, captioning it as, “Love test cricket practice sessions.”
Along with Kohli, KL Rahul was also seen practicing with the pink ball, signaling that he might be Kohli’s replacement for the remaining three Tests of the series.
However, Team India plays the limited-overs first, which begins with the ODI series in Sydney and then moves on T20Is. The first Test, a day/ night affair would be played with the pink ball in Adelaide on from 17th December.
