Warwickshire and Worcestershire show interest in Ashley Giles
According to reports, the Warwickshire Cricket Club is in talks with the former English spinner for a potential role as their director of cricket. Notably, Giles spent 13 English seasons at the club, having made his competitive debut there in 1993.
The former cricketer has already held the director of cricket role at Warwickshire twice, and remains a strong contender to make a return for a third stint.
However, Worcestershire has emerged as another club to have shown a keen interest in Giles for the same role.
It is understood that the 49-year-old has had talks with both parties, leaving the ex-cricketer intrigued.
In Warwickshire’s case, the cricket club is eying three other candidates as their next director of cricket. The ECB Performance Director Mo Bobat, his deputy David Court and former Durham coach Jon Lewis are among the candidates currently in consideration by the cricket club.
Warwickshire’s current head coach Mark Robinson is also reportedly slated to throw his hat in the ring before the closing date.
