Arjun Tendulkar went for plenty in SMAT Opener vs Mumbai (Source:@sachin_rt/X.com)
Arjun Tendulkar is the son of legendary Sachin Tendulkar and there have always been high expectations from the youngster. However, he has not been able to live upto people's expectations so far, and with IPL 2025 mega auction approaching, the bowling all-rounder has delivered another below-par performance in the Goa-Mumbai clash of Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2024.
He is playing for Goa and opened the bowling on a flat deck at the Gymkhana Ground in Hyderabad. However, against the might of Mumbai and especially against the likes of Shreyas Iyer and Prithvi Shaw, he could not impress and went for 48 runs in his four overs. Shreyas Iyer smashed an unbeaten 130 off just 57 balls, with 11 fours and 10 sixes in it. Along with Shreyas, the likes of Prithvi Shaw and Shams Mulani also played handy cameos and Mumbai blasted 250 in their 20 overs.
Arjun Tendulkar's IPL Future In Danger
Apart from conceding runs, Arjun Tendulkar also went wicketless and when it came to his batting too, he could not make much of an impact, departing for just 9. It puts his IPL 2025 participation in doubt, as he could manage just three wickets in five matches he played over the course of 2023 and 2024 seasons in IPL.
Mumbai Indians have always backed him, but there is no guarantees in the auction, and it won't be a surprise if he goes unsold in the 2025 IPL mega auction. His base price is INR 30 Lakhs and in 22 T20 matches in his career, he has picked 26 wickets so far. His economy rate both in the IPL and in T20s is on the higher side too, and with plenty of talented young bowlers up for grabs, the IPL future of India's most celebrated cricketer's son looks in real danger.
