Aiden Markram is set to lead South Africa in the final of the T20 World Cup 2024 against India at Bridgetown. Under his leadership, the Proteas have remained unbeaten so far in the tournament, having topped the Group D and Group 2 points table across matches played out in West Indies and USA.

Apparently, Markram’s leadership has already left a multitude of Indian fans worried before the title clash, owing to an interesting theory circulating around social media.


Aiden Markram fan theory leaves Indian fans worried

A social media user took to X on the day of the IND vs SA T20 World Cup 2024 final and brought a certain theory into the limelight. The post in contention reveals ‘marriage’ and ‘leadership’ history of past World Cup winners, including the legendary Ricky Ponting and India’s very own icon MS Dhoni.

The post highlighted the fact that captains like Ricky Ponting, MS Dhoni, Eoin Morgan and Pat Cummins all married a year prior to lifting World Cup trophies for their respective nations. 

Additionally, the post also stated that current Proteas skipper Aiden Markram himself got hitched to his longtime girlfriend Nicole Danielle O’Connor in July 2023 last year.

The aforementioned theory, coupled with past history of Ponting, Cummins and MS Dhoni has left several Indian fans wondering if the Proteas skipper can pull off something similar for South Africa at the 2024 T20 World Cup final.

Regardless, unbeaten South Africa and India will collide on June 29 for the coveted title at the Kensington Oval. The action will commence from 8:00 PM IST onwards.
