The controversies surrounding the Champions Trophy 2025 keeps on increasing with each passing day. The tournament is just 4 months away, but there is still no clarity related to the hosting rights of the competition.

A couple of days ago, PCB chief, Mohsin Naqvi stated that Champions Trophy will be hosted in Pakistan, but it seems like his statement came back to haunt him as a massive blast took place in Karachi on Sunday night.

The explosion took place near the Jinnah International airport, killing 3, and injuring 11 people. So, now the question arises, is Pakistan safe to host the Champions Trophy 2025?.

Time and again, Pakistan has been questioned for their security, and this is the major reason as to why teams like India are avoiding to travel to their neighbouring country for the event and are pushing for a hybrid model. Karachi is one of the largest cities in Pakistan, and numerous high-profile matches will take place during the Champions Trophy.

Hence, with the latest blast in a busy area like airport, doubts has creeped in related to their ability to host such a massive event. As per reports, the ICC is also monitoring the latest situation in Karachi, and despite PCB's efforts to keep the mega event in their country, there could be a chance that Pakistan cricket could suffer a massive blow before the tournament commences.

India's Champions Trophy participation in doubts

Dark cloud loom around India's participation in the Champions Trophy 2025. The BCCI Secretary, and the soon to be appointed ICC Chairman, Jay Shah has been pushing for hybrid model, something which the PCB has outright rejected.

While seven other sides have given green light to travel to Pakistan for the event, India stands firm and are yet to give their acceptance, something which the PCB and ICC are waiting for. With the latest blast in Karachi, it is highly unlikely that the Indian government will give their green signal for the Indian side to travel to Pakistan.
