Performing exceptionally well in the past couple of years with brilliant numbers in the format, Indian pacer Mohammed Siraj has been snubbed from the India squad for the upcoming Champions Trophy. Now, the bowler is expected to feature in the Ranji Trophy for his domestic side, Hyderabad, in their final game this season.

Indian Pacer To Play Ranji Trophy

Star performer for India during the Asia Cup 2023, Siraj will now feature in Hyderabad's final group fixture against Vidarbha from 30th January as he is set to miss out on the clash versus Himachal Pradesh from 23rd January for getting adequate rest after the gruelling Border-Gavaskar Trophy.

When asked about this to a Hyderabad Cricket Association official, he said, on the condition of anonymity,

"He has some workload concern so will not be playing the first game. But will, in all likelihood, turn up for the last game vs Vidarbha."

India's Champions Trophy campaign begins against Bangladesh on 20th February, after which they will go head-to-head versus their arch-rivals Pakistan on 23rd February before meeting New Zealand on 2nd of March.

Siraj Feeling The Heat After Getting Dropped

It has been a while since Siraj, who supports spearhead Jasprit Bumrah with the ball, has been India's mainstay in all three formats, as the duo sets the tone for the country's victory more often than not. However, in the recent team announcement by Indian skipper Rohit Sharma and chief selector Ajit Agarkar, Siraj was ultimately shown the exit door from the Champions Trophy 2025 squad alongside the preceding ODI series against England.

The reason cited by the management is that the right-armer has not been effective when the ball gets old, and instead of him, left-arm pacer Arshdeep Singh has been given the nod.
