Indian captain Rohit Sharma is facing mounting pressure after a dismal run in SENA countries (South Africa, England, New Zealand, Australia). With a dismal outing again in the 4th Test at MCG, where he scored a mere 3 runs, his abilities as a Test batter came up in the forefront.

Notably, Rohit Sharma's Test batting average in these challenging conditions has plummeted to a worrying 15.55 in last 10 innings, marking the lowest average for any Indian captain in the last 75 years. This alarming statistic raised serious questions about his leadership capabilities in these demanding territories.

Sharma's struggles in SENA have been a recurring occurrence throughout his Test career. His inability to consistently convert starts into substantial scores has been a major point of concern. While he has shown glimpses of brilliance at times, his overall record in these conditions remains a significant blemish on an otherwise impressive career.

Rohit's unimpressive run in the recent Border-Gavaskar Trophy is another point of concern where he managed to get scores of 3, 10, 3, 6, in his last four innings. Though he started out in the middle order sacrificing his position for KL Rahul, his recent promotion as an opener at the MCG Test was also a turndown for fans.

Rohit's Disappointing Run Continues At MCG

Rohit Sharma's innings came to an abrupt end early in the second over when he attempted to pull a short of a length delivery from Scott Boland that moved away slightly. Playing on the back foot, Rohit struggled to control the bounce and top-edged the pull shot. The ball sailed into the hands of Boland at mid-on, bringing his brief stay at the crease to an end.

Speaking of the match, India had a hard day with the bat on Day 2 as Yashasvi Jaiswal's dismissal triggered a batting collapse for India late in the day. Virat Kohli put up for long but was dismissed for 36 runs as Rishabh Pant and Ravindra Jadeja held the fort for 164-5 at the end of the day.
