On Monday, January 13, the PCB conducted the drafts for PSL season 10, set to overlap with IPL 2025. Notably, due to the Champions Trophy 2025 scheduled in February, PSL will be held from April to May, while IPL will take place from March 21 to May 25.
Talking about the PSL draft, the league attracted a few top stars as they roped in the likes of David Warner and Kane Williamson, who will be making their PSL debuts. Now with Warner featuring in the PSL and too in the highest category - Platinum, it makes one curious what is the difference in salary between a highest-paid player in PSL and IPL.
Highest-Paid Player In PSL
Talking about the PSL, then they don't have an auction-like strategy for players but have pre-determined salaries for players according to categories. There are six categories in the PSL. The platinum category is the top-most where players like David Warner registered.
Further, the salary The ones in the Platinum categories are the highest-paid players and earn a salary range of $130,000 to 170,000, which is around 1.12 to 1.47 crores INR.
A report from The National also mentioned that the PSL have made a slight increase in the salary structure for the platinum category to attract top stars, and it mentioned that David Warner might earn around $300,000, which is 2 crores 60 lakhs in Indian rupees.
Highest-Paid Player In IPL
Now talking about IPL 2025, then Rishabh Pant was the highest-paid player as LSG availed his services for a whopping 27 crores during the IPL 2025 mega-auction in Jeddah.
Now, the difference in salaries is massive as even if we calculate the difference then Pant earns 24.4 crores more than PSL's highest paid player. It also translates to IPL's highest salary being 9.4 times higher than that of the one earned in PSL.
If we see mathematically, then (27-2.6 crores) = 24.40 crores. Further, the difference in salary in percentage is also 938.46%
