AS-W vs PS-W Preview: Adelaide Strikers Women
The Strikers Women haven’t had the best of seasons. Defending champions, yes, but they’re languishing at the bottom of the points table with just two wins from eight matches. Their last game, though, was a positive one. They bagged a much-needed 38-run victory over Hobart Hurricanes Women.
Madeline Penna led the batting charge with a solid 60 off 40 balls, helping them post a defendable 140/7. While their big names like Smriti Mandhana, Katie Mack, Laura Wolvaardt, and skipper Tahlia McGrath had a rough outing with the bat, they’ll be hoping for redemption in this match.
Tahlia McGrath, however, more than made up for her lack of runs with the ball, leading the bowling attack and picking up four wickets to dismiss Hobart for just 102. If the Strikers want to turn their season around, they’ll need more of that spark from McGrath and some much-needed consistency from their top order.
AS-W vs PS-W Preview : Perth Scorchers Women
On the other hand, the Scorchers Women are sitting fifth in the points table, with four wins out of seven games. Their last outing, however, ended on a disappointing note with a seven-wicket loss to the Sydney Thunder Women.
Despite a fantastic batting performance, with Beth Mooney cracking a brilliant 97 off 64 balls and captain Sophie Devine smashing a quick 44 off 33, their bowlers couldn’t back it up. The Thunder chased down their 170/5 with an over to spare. Devine and Amy Louise Edgar were the only bowlers to pick up wickets, as the rest of the attack struggled.
The Scorchers will be hoping their bowlers can step up in this match and help seal the deal when the batters have laid a strong foundation. With the race to secure points heating up, Perth’s bowlers will need to fire on all cylinders.
AS-W vs PS-W Pitch Report: What To Expecte From The Karen Rolton Oval Surface?
The Karen Rolton Oval has been a dream for batters this season, and if the last game here is anything to go by, we could be in for another high-scoring affair. Pacers will need to make the most of the new ball, while spinners will have to bring their A-game, using flight and pace changes to keep the runs in check. As the pitch gets better for batting as the game progresses, whoever wins the toss is likely to choose to field first.
