Sanju Samson To Drop MS Dhoni’s Preferred Player? RR’s Probable XI For IPL 2025 Match vs DC

Having lost and won Indian Premier League 2025 matches in sets of two thus far, Rajasthan Royals are set to return to winning ways by that logic. Slated to face Delhi Capitals at the Arun Jaitley Stadium on Wednesday, RR would be wary of the fact that they haven’t defeated this opposition at this venue since 2015.

Both part of Royals back in the day, Sanju Samson and Karun Nair are the only two players from that match who will be playing on April 16. With Nair part of DC now, Samson playing as a wicket-keeper opening batter will remain the only commonality.

Having graduated to lead Rajasthan now, Samson needs to call his shots to perfection in order to register a triumph against the second-ranked team.

Rajasthan Royals Look Certain To Back First-Choice Batters

In spite of four losses across six outings demoting them to the eighth position on the points table, there are minimal chances of RR making wholesale changes to their Playing XI. With no reservations around the individual potential of their top five, the team management would be hoping for them to find optimum form at the earliest.

In an ideal world, that would look like a solid foundation from Yashasvi Jaiswal and Samson being capitalized upon by the likes of Nitish Rana, Riyan Parag, Dhruv Jurel and Shimron Hetmyer. Barring Parag, each one of them has scored at least one half-century this season.

Since their season opener, no two Rajasthan batters have scored a half-century in the same match. Although they had ended up on the losing side in their first contest this season, clicking together as a unit is the need of the hour.

Should RR Drop Tushar Deshpande?

Each one out of Royals' six wicket-takers this season has an economy rate of more than 9. Additionally, pacer Tushar Deshpande is the only one to be leaking runs at over 11 per over. A stint which hasn’t started on a fruitful note unlike his previous one alongside MS Dhoni at Chennai Super Kings, exploring other options wouldn’t be a bad idea for RR.

Assuming they opt to leave Deshpande out, Akash Madhwal seems to be the frontrunner to play his first match of the season. Yudhvir Singh Charak and Ashok Sharma are the other pace-bowling contenders.
