Tamil Nadu Premier League season 8 is set to kick off with an exciting clash between two former champions Lyca Kovai Kings and Chepauk Super Gillies. The tournament opener will go on floors on July 5 at SCF Cricket Ground in Salem from 7.15 PM IST onwards.

Defending champions, the Lyca Kovai Kings have always been a competitive side in the TNPL, having won two titles already in the past two years, including one shared with Chepauk Super Gillies due to a final washout. 

This year, LKK will aim to defend their title with a strong start to the season against CSG. However, Kings will miss the services of Sai Sudharsan as the batter was called in for national duty for the upcoming Zimbabwe Tour. 

Regardless, Shahrukh Khan will be available to lead the side to yet another successful TNPL season.

Chepauk Super Gillies

The Chepauk Super Gillies are undoubtedly one of the most successful franchises in TNPL history. They won three titles from 2019 to 2022 but missed out on 2023 season playoffs by barest of margins.

Regardless, with a strong squad, CSG are expected to redeem themselves in 2024.  Andre Siddarth will lead the side this year with Pradosh Ranjan Paul and Aswi Christ playing a key role in their quest to another championship.

While beating defending champions LKK is a significant challenge, Super Gillies’ belief will result in an exciting contest.
