The Board of Control for Cricket in India has officially suspended IPL 2025 due to rising tension between India and Pakistan. The decision of Indian board to prioritize the security of players has been appreciated by all stakeholders, and everyone would be hoping that the situation gets normal soon.

In total, 57 matches have been completed, while the 58th game between Punjab Kings and Delhi Capitals was stopped during the 11th over of the first innings. There were plenty of quality performances over the course of these 58 matches, while some big players failed to live upto the billing.

So, keeping in mind the performances of players till the IPL suspension, here is the flop XI of IPL 2025.

Openers

Jake Fraser McGurk And Ishan Kishan

The opening position goes to Jake Fraser McGurk and Ishan Kishan. The Australian was absolutely fantastic for DC in last IPL, but failed big time in 2025, scoring just 55 runs in six matches. His failure played a big role in instability in DC's batting line-up at the top of the order.

Ishan Kishan, did not open for SRH this season, but is naturally an opener. He started off the season with a bang, scoring century against RR, and overall scored just 196 runs in 10 matches. His strike-rate was pretty poor too, and failed to use his experience when his team needed him to step up this season.

Middle Order

Venkatesh Iyer, Rishabh Pant, Nitish Reddy, Glenn Maxwell, Shimron Hetmyer

At number 3 comes Venkatesh Iyer, bought at 23.75 Crore in IPL 2025 mega auction. A lot was expected from him but apart from one fifty, Venkatesh struggled to find his rhythm throughout the tournament, not doing justice to his huge price tag.

Rishabh Pant, the captain of LSG will lead the flop XI of IPL 2025 as well. He is the most expensive player in the history of the league, but was arguably the biggest under-performer of the season. The wicketkeeper batter scored just 128 runs at a strike-rate of under 100 and was one of the main reasons of LSG's downfall in the second half of the league.

The likes of Nitish Reddy, Glenn Maxwell and Shimron Hetmyer complete the middle order. All three are quality international cricketers, but they failed to make an impact in IPL 2025 for their respective franchise. Maxwell scored just 48 runs in six innings while Nitish Reddy and Shimron Hetmyer also did not step up for their side in difficult situations this season.

Bowlers

Rashid Khan, Ravi Bishnoi, Mohit Sharma, Mohammed Shami

The spin duo of Rashid Khan and Ravi Bishnoi also make their entry in the flop XI. Rashid Khan has been one of the star performers in IPL over the years. He is not only known for taking crucial wickets, but also for his economical bowling. The Afghan star though failed in both the aspects this season, leaving his team GT in a spot of bother.

Ravi Bishnoi, another retained star, failed to deliver to his standards this season. The spinner picked just nine wickets in 10 innings and leaked runs at an economy rate of 10.41 and was overshadowed by inexperienced Digvesh Rathi. The pace duo contains experienced duo of Mohit Sharma and Mohammed Shami.

Mohit Sharma did brilliantly for GT in the last cycle, performing the role of a specialised death bowler to great effect. He was expected to perform the same role for DC this season, but he picked just 2 wickets in seven matches and leaked runs at an economy rate of 10. Thus, he would be a death-bowling option in the flop XI of IPL 2025.

Mohammed Shami's return to IPL also did not go as planned, as the pacer let his team down both in the powerplay and in other stages of the game. He picked only six wickets in the nine matches and was one of the major reasons for SRH's failure in IPL 2025.
