Pakistan produced a shambolic performance in the Champions Trophy as the host nation got crashed out in the group stage itself. They lost to New Zealand and India and the match against Bangladesh was abandoned, and as a result, they ended the campaign without winning a single match.

A lot was expected of their skipper, Mohammad Rizwan, but the captain of the team disappointed with his performance and now as per reports, PCB is contemplating on removing from the T20I captaincy.

Pakistan is set to travel to New Zealand after the Champions Trophy for a white-ball series and if Mohammad Rizwan is not included in the squad or gets removed as the captain, the team will need a new leader. Here are 3 candidates who can replace him as the captain for the Kiwi tour.

1) Shadab Khan

Shadab Khan was out of reckoning, but after the Champions Trophy debacle, there are reports that the out of facvour all-rounder could be included in the squad for the New Zealand tour and could also become the captain of the team.

He has a brilliant tactical mind and helped Islamabad United win the PSL 2024 season. Interestingly, Shadab was the captain of the team and has done wonders with the Islamabad unit in PSL. In 55 matches, he has won 31 and has a win percentage of 56.36.

2) Agha Salman

The vice-captain of the Pakistan white-ball team, Agha Salman has been one of the rare shining light for Pakistan in recent matches, and could be given the captaincy duties for the New Zealand tour.

He recently tasted success as Pakistan skipper when the team toured Zimbabwe for a white-ball tour. Rizwan led the side in ODIs, while Agha Salman was the captain of the T20Is and he helped them win the series, 2-1. Known for his cool and calm composure, Agha Salman could also be a potent captaincy choice.

3) Mohammad Haris

Mohammad Haris has the experience of leading Pakistan Shaheens, and has also led Babar Azam in the Pakistan Champions ODI Cup in September, last year.

Even though his team failed to reach the finals of the competition, but Haris' leadership was applauded as he led a side which had international stars and big names like Babar Azam. If Pakistan want a fresh face to lead their team, Haris could be the answer.
