We are just one step away from the finals in the ongoing tri-nation series between Pakistan, New Zealand, and South Africa. While New Zealand have already qualified for the final, we are looking for our second finalist between Pakistan and South Africa, who will clash against each other on 12th February 2025, Wednesday, at National Stadium Karachi, from 2:30 PM IST in the 3rd ODI of this ongoing series.

Pakistan

Having lost the first game of this series against New Zealand, Mohammad Rizwan-led Pakistan side were bowled out for 252 as they could not chase 330, set by the visiting Kiwi side, losing the game by a margin of 78 runs.

Fakhar Zaman was the top scorer for the hosts, scoring 84 runs after facing 69 deliveries. The next best batter on the side was Salman Aga with 40. Meanwhile, the rest of the batters could not rise up to the occasion as they faltered against the spin trio of Mitchell Santner, Michael Bracewell, and Glenn Phillips.

From their bowling, Shaheen Afridi was the pick of the bowlers with three wickets but proved to be a bit expensive as he bowled at an economy of 8.8 in the first ODI, while Abrar Ahmed picked up two wickets for 41 runs in his 10 overs. However, on a positive note, they have been largely consistent as they previously defeated South Africa at their home, whitewashing them by 3-0.

South Africa

On the other end are the South Africa side led by Temba Bavuma. They also faced defeat against the strong BlackCaps side by six wickets that too after putting up 304 runs, courtesy of a brilliant 150 on debut by Matthew Breetzke. Wiaan Mulder was another positive with 64, while Jason Smith played a fine hand of 41 runs before getting run out.

In reply to their 304, the Kiwis aced the chase with eight deliveries and six wickets to spare, as maestro Kane Williamson put up a 133 while Devon Conway was at his best with the 97 as South African bowlers were unable to get the better of the Kiwi batters. Spinner Muthuswamy was decent, with two wickets for 50 runs in his 8.4 overs.

As both teams get set for this exciting showdown, let's have a look at their head-to-head records in ODI.
