The ninth edition of Champions Trophy is  all set to kickstart in Pakistan from 19th of February and though the tournament will be played in the hybrid model, it is an important event for the Men in Green. They won the last edition when the tournament was played in England in 2017 and would be itching to repeat those heroics after lot of criticism in the last year or so.

Mohammad Rizwan is their new white-ball captain and they have whitewashed both Australia and Pakistan in the ODI series recently. So, there are likely to be high on confidence going into the Champions Trophy in February, but some of their star players are injury-prone and that is something they need to be careful about.

There are no guarantees in cricket and anyone can get injured at any point in time. However, there are some players who are injury-prone because of their fragile body and skill-type. So, let's look at the three Pakistan players who could get injured and miss the all-important Champions Trophy.

Saim Ayub

Saim Ayub started his ODI career with a bang, hitting three centuries and one fifty in nine ODIs so far. He was the star of Pakistan's series win against South Africa and was expected to play a big role in the Champions Trophy, but an ankle injury in the second Test against South Africa has put his participation in doubt.

The left-handed batter has got a fractured ankle and has been ruled out for minimum six weeks which is a big blow to Pakistan. Even if he does get fit just before the Champions Trophy, the lack of match participation could go against him and Pakistan might loss out on using a talent like Saim Ayub on their flat batting deck.

Naseem Shah

Naseem Shah is one of the most talented young pacers in world cricket and made his debut at the age of just 16. He has since then produced lot of quality performances across formats, but it has taken a toll on his body as well. In 2023, the pacer got injured in Asia Cup and that ruled him out of the all-important 2023 World Cup in India and it proved to be a disastrous campaign for Pakistan.

After the long rehabilitation, he made his comeback into the national side but recently after an ODI against Australia, he suffered an injury on his left calf. He has recovered, but it clearly shows that his body is quite injury prone and if Pakistan do not maintain his workload, he could get injured and miss another important ICC event, Champions Trophy.

Haris Rauf

Fast bowlers are the most injury-prone cricketers and Haris Rauf being a genuine pacer has also had his share on injuries in the past. Haris Rauf dislocated his shoulder in February 2024 in PSL and was out of action for three months which speaks a lot about how serious an injury can get for a fast bowler.

Rauf has previously suffered heel and back injury and Pakistan would have to be careful with his workload. He has been in great form in recent times and was the 'Player Of The Series' in Pakistan's ODI series win over Australia and his raw pace would be crucial on Pakistan tracks. Therefore Pakistan selectors and management would have to make sure that Haris do not end up exhausting his body before the series and stays fresh for Champions Trophy.
