The Mumbai Indians have been one of the most successful teams in the history of IPL. They have five trophies under their belt and have always been one of the top contenders for the title each season.

One of the biggest strengths of MI have been their strategies in the IPL auctions. They have mostly tried to cover all their bases during the auction and have frequently been successful in doing that. During the IPL 2025 auction, we saw MI put in special efforts to assort a squad that has a good overall balance and that could help them in regaining their legacy in the league.

In this article we will take a look at three MI players who have done well in 2024 and would excite the management about their inclusion into the side.

The young wicket-keeper was bought for ₹ 1 Cr during the IPL 2025 auction. If we take a look at the performance of Ryan Rickelton in international cricket, then the numbers might not look too impressive. However, the south paw has done a brilliant job in the ODIs. 

In 2024, Rickelton has played 4 ODI matches and has scored 171 runs in them at an average of 42.75 and a strike rate of 92.93. Besides this he scored a brilliant 100 in Test while his team was under pressure. MI will hope that he translates the performance of the longer formats into T20s during IPL 2025 and leaves game changing impacts.

2. Hardik Pandya

Hardik Pandya had a brilliant stint as a captain for the Gujarat Titans. He won the IPL title with them in 2022 and then took them to the final in the next edition. However, in the next edition of the tournament Mumbai Indians traded him back into their side and made him their captain. Ahead of IPL 2025 auction they retained him as a skipper.

During 2024, Hardik Pandya played in 17 international matches and scored 352 runs in them at an average of 44.00 and also picked up 16 wickets. Pandya was also seen doing a great job in the SMAT 2024. The MI skipper scored 246 runs in 7 matches at a strike rate of 193.70 and an average of 49.20. Given the overall show that he has displayed in 2024, MI will hope that he continues this performance in IPL 2024. 

1. Jasprit Bumrah

The Indian ace pacer was in a great form throughout 2024. Time and again Jasprit Bumrah proved with his performances that he is the biggest match-winner with the ball at present.

In 2024, Bumrah bowled in 34 innings and picked up 86 wickets in them at an average of 13.76 and a strike rate of 26.90. Bumrah played eight T20I matches in this year and picked up 15 wickets in them while having an average of just 8.26 and an incredible economy of 4.17.  The MI management will hope that he stays fit till the IPL 2025 and translates his form into the tournament.
