Young Indian batter Yashasvi Jaiswal has had a memorable Test series against England on home soil.

Opening the batting alongside skipper Rohit Sharma, the swashbuckling southpaw has amassed 655 runs at an outstanding average of 93.57 and a blistering strike rate of 78.63.

The Mumbai batter, who will be in action in the upcoming fifth Test in Dharamsala, is on the verge of breaking one of Virat Kohli's phenomenal batting records in the match.

Notably, Kohli occupies the third position on the list of highest run-getters for India in a bilateral series with 692 runs to his name.

So, if Jaiswal adds 38 more runs to his tally, he will surpass the talisman to get himself placed below the legendary Sunil Gavaskar.

Most runs for India in a bilateral series

  • Sunil Gavaskar- 774 runs in 4 matches vs WI, 1970-71
  • Sunil Gavaskar- 732 runs in 6 matches vs WI, 1978-79
  • Virat Kohli- 692 runs in 4 matches vs AUS, 2014-15
  • Virat Kohli- 655 runs in 5 matches vs ENG, 2016-17
  • Yashasvi Jaiswal- 655 runs in 4 matches vs ENG, 2023-24

Jaiswal has showcased sublime form in the series, hammering consecutive double tons in Rajkot and Visakhapatnam games, which India won convincingly. The hosts have already sealed the series and would love to make it four-one by winning the final dead rubber starting on March 7.
