Pakistan’s ODI rivalry against Bangladesh launched with a 1986 Asia Cup game in Sri Lanka. While the ‘Men in Green’ remained a dominant force in their initial head-to-head battles, the competitiveness between the two sides gained much prominence post the 2015 World Cup.
Having not played a single ODI against each other since the 2019 World Cup in England, the two white-ball titans are set to trade punches once again in their upcoming Asia Cup 2023 Super Four duel in Lahore on September 6.

PAK vs BAN head-to-head ODI record in Asia Cup
Pakistan and Bangladesh have faced each other 13 times in ODI Asia Cup matches. Notably, their first-ever 50-overs meeting also occurred at an Asia Cup event back in 1986.
Across all 13 fixtures, Pakistan have emerged victorious in 12 of them. Meanwhile, the lone win Bangladesh managed to secure against the ‘Men in Green’ occurred in their previous Asia Cup ODI meeting back in 2018.
The two sides also produced one of the best Asia Cup finals of all time at the 2012 edition, where Pakistan secured a two-run to claim the title in front of Bangladesh crowd.

Overall, both Pakistan and Bangladesh have met each other 37 times at the ODI stage. Being a dominant force, Pakistan secured wins in 32 of those matches as opposed to Bangladesh’s five victories.
Remarkably, four of those five Bangladesh wins occurred in their past five meetings. After years of finding themselves at the receiving end of the stick, Bangladesh handed Pakistan a 3-0 defeat at home in 2015, and completed a 37-run routing of the ‘Men in Green’ at the 2018 Asia Cup.
Pakistan won the subsequent battle the following year in England by 94 runs at the 2019 World Cup. The two sides have not faced each other in an ODI since then.
