Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma are two of the greatest-ever Indian players, and they have served the nation for the last 16 years, however, there comes a time when harsh decisions need to be taken. Both the players have looked a pale shadow of themselves and the time has come to bid adieu to both the stalwarts.

The exit of both Kohli and Rohit from Test cricket will be a bitter pill to swallow, but for the betterment of the Indian cricket such strict decisions need to be taken by the BCCI. The Indian board works on emotions and this has led to their downfall so many times. For once, the selectors need to think from the minds and take this bold call and here are 3 solid reasons to do it.

3) Runs are not coming from their bat

Yes, Virat Kohli did manage to score a hundred in the Perth Test, but when the situation got tough, he failed to deliver the goods and perished cheaply in the other four innings. The same could be said about Rohit, who, in the three innings he has played, couldn't even cross the 20-run mark.

He was constantly troubled by Pat Cummins and the technique was exposed against the moving ball. Kohli, too, has looked lost and has had his fair share of issues with deliveries pitched outside the off. Should teams carry players who are not scoring runs?.

2) Think about the future

Rohit and Virat are 37, and 36 years of age and are no longer getting younger. Age is catching upto both the greats of the game, and perhaps it is time to think for the future. Their are quite a few young stars in the team like Shubman Gill, Yashasvi Jaiswal, and Rishabh Pant, and perhaps time has come to pass the batton to the younger generation, who still have the hunger to score runs.

1) Both not working on faulty technique

With runs not coming by, both Rohit and Virat are under tremendous psychological pressure which is not doing anything good for them. They are also not working on their faulty technique which is getting exposed again and again.

For starters, the Australian side know that if they pitch the ball outside the off with slips in place, Kohli will still fetch for the ball and will get an outside-edge. Despite knowing the obvious weakness, he hasn't worked on it.

Similarly, Rohit is vulnerable against the incoming deliveries and whenever he comes onto bat, skipper Pat Cummins gets himself into the attack and tries to bring the ball back into the right-handed batter for lbw and bowled dismissals.
